So you might be a sissy! (#1 in a series)

Have you ever been called a sissy before?

As you probably know, “sissy” is a derogatory term that’s used to describe men or boys as weak, effeminate, cowardly, and/or gay. It’s also sometimes used as a slur against trans women and transfeminine people. As a term, it has its roots in that perfectly horrible trifecta that seems to dictate toxic masculinity: misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia.

But for some people being a “sissy” isn’t an accusation to defend oneself against. Instead, “sissy” can be a kinky headspace, a sexual role to take on, or even an important part of one’s identity.

So, let’s talk about sissification kinks and what it means to be a sissy. We’ll explore the eroticism in sissification fantasies, the ways sissification can look in real life, and how you can start exploring being a sissy if it appeals to you.

Along the way, we’ll dispel common myths and address some of the harmful ideas that circulate in sissification spheres.

This is Dr Abigail Dotson. I am a psychotherapist, psychologist and consultant. I have worked with more than 100 people to help them understand who they are and what personal questions they need to answer. Please comment on the blog with your feedback and questions.

Question #1 - Is this person a sissy? Why or why not?

  1. I have never been bothered about being called a sissy. It's a term I adopted for myself as soon as I understood my own sexual personality.

Even if didn't already know Annie, I would have pegged the person in the photo as a sissy. It is clearly male (under all the frills) and adult. But the pose is indisputably childish and overtly girlish. A cross-dresser who dresses and acts this way is clearly advertising her submission and willingness to be treated as a little girl.

  2. "sissy" is a complex topic! I am so glad that Dr Dotson will be sharing her expertise with us. Of course that little girl is a sissy (LOL). Her pose is delicate and dainty (bent knee, one foot on her toes and a gentle tug on her dress). She loves her pretty dress!

  7. Crossdressers are someone who does nothing but dress with the opposite genders clothing, sissies are boys with extreme interest in all things feminine, femboys express themselves by participating in feminine activities and clothing/expressing their feminine side while identifying as a boy or non-binary (pretty much, femboys express their feminine behaviors and overall feminine sides, don't follow stereotypes), transgenders are people that are born in the wrong body, meaning that they have the mind, soul, and heart of the opposite gender. Transgenders are primarily people that swap their gender to one more fitting for them, they swap their physical gender to match their mental gender.

  8. AFAIK, sissies generally seek domination whereas femboys don't necessarily seek domination. Also, sissies are like femboys in drag--in other words, they overdo their femininity and their appearance of vulnerability. They might also present in a more childish manner. She is 100% SISSY!!
